Chemical analysis of the thermomineral water and peloid which are used therapeutically at Banja Koviljaca subsequent to a complete examination of the terrain including physical and chemical analyses, illustrates that they may be classed in the category of sodium – calcium – hydrocarbonate hypothermals. The thermomineral water is applied through bathing (partial or complete) and vaginal douching. 

The origin of Banja Koviljaca peloid (mud used therapeutically) is mineral and is classified among the low alkaline and reductive peloids. It is prepared for usage in special partitioned open mud pools. The clay taken from the surroundings is brought there, and after being ground, it is mixed with sulphurous water. Completion of the preparation of the clay is conducted under anaerobic conditions maintained by the constant flow of sulphurous water over the clay. The process for the preparation of the peloid takes from one to three years with occasional mixing. During that period, the concentration of the dissolved materials is achieved. In the specialized medical rehabilitation centre, peloid is used for therapeutic purposes through the use of mud packs.
